Tony L. Weaver, DO, FACS

Dr. Tony Weaver, plastic and reconstructive surgeon

Dr. Tony Weaver is a native of South Alabama. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Mobile and the University of North Alabama then proudly served in the United States Coast Guard Reserve for eight years.

Dr. Weaver received his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., graduating with honors. He completed his general surgery training at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla. and Baptist Health System in Birmingham, followed by additional training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

He is American Osteopathic Association (AOA) board certified in general surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Weaver is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also an enrolled tribal member of the MOWA Band of Choctaw Indians in Mount Vernon, Ala., and is the first and only Native American plastic and reconstructive surgeon in the United States.

In addition to his clinical training, he completed the AOA and New York Institute of Technology Training in Policy Studies program led by Dr. Barbara Ross-Lee and Dr. Hank Chaudhry.  Dr. Weaver has authored nearly a half dozen peer reviewed research articles and his work has been presented at multiple regional, national and international conferences.
